▶Deoksugung: Deoksugung, previously called 'Gyeongungung', is the major royal palace of 'Daehan Empire' which was proclaimed in 1897
Deoksugung palace has served as a temporary palace since 1593(the 26th year of King Seonjo), naming it the temporary palace in Jeongneung-dong, just one year after the Japanese invasion in 1592 (the 25th year of King Seonjo) when all palaces in the capital were destroyed. When Changdeokgung Palace was rebuilt, Gyeongungung Palace became a secondary palace.
As Emperor Gojong declared the Korean Empire in 1897 (the 1st year of Gwangmu Emperor) and assumed the throne as an emperor, Gyeongungung Palace served as the imperial court and palace of the Korean Empire. Later, its status was elevated to befit the dignity of an empire. Western-style buildings were built inside the palace, blending the traditional and Western styles. In 1904 (the 8th year of Gwangmu Emperor), however, many of its buildings were lost in a great fire. The palace was again renamed Deoksugung Palace after Emperor Gojong abdicated the throne due to pressure from the Japanese Empire in 1907. When Korea was under Japanese rule (1910–1945), the palace shrank in size significantly, resulting in the demolition of most of its buildings. Making things worse, Deoksugung Palace became a part of the Japanese Empire's park development project, losing its dignity as a royal palace. From 1946 to 1947, Deoksugung Palace’s Seokjojeon Hall hosted the 1st and 2nd US–Soviet Joint Commission. The palace restoration project has continued since then, transforming it into the palace that we see today.

▶Gyeonghuigung: Gyeonghuigung Palace (Historic Site No. 271) was a secondary palace in the late Joseon dynasty. Its construction started in 1617 (9th year of Prince Gwanghae’s reign) and was completed in 1623 (15th year of Prince Gwanghae’s reign).
Before Gyeonghuigung Palace was constructed, there was a house owned by Prince Jeongwon, father of King Injo, and a story has been passed down that the house was confiscated and the palace was built as there was a rumor that the place emanated royal energy. While Gyeonghuigung’s original name was Gyeongdeokgung, it was renamed Gyeonghuigung in 1760 (36th year of King Yeongjo's reign) as it was pronounced similar to King Wonjong’s posthumous name "Gyeongdeok
The Seoul Metropolitan Government excavated the Gyeonghuigung site since 1987, restored buildings including Sungjeongjeon Hall, and open them to citizens since 2002.

▶Gyeongbokgung: Gyeongbokgung Palace is the primary palace of the Joseon dynasty that was established in 1395 (the 4th year of King Taejo's reign) after the foundation of the dynasty in 1392.
Mountain (also known as Bugaksan Mountain) at the backdrop, and a wide Yukjo Street unfolds before Gwanghwamun Gate, the main gate of the palace. The name "Gyeongbok" means that "the new dynasty shall have good fortunes and prosper." Gyeongbokgung Palace was the very place where Hunminjeongeum (a script for writing the Korean language) was created and distributed.

▶Changdeokgung : Changdeokgung Palace was built as a secondary palace to the primary palace, Gyeongbokgung Palace, in 1405 (the 5th year of King Taejong).
Changdeokgung Palace was often called Donggwol, or the East Palace, and had no boundaries that separated it from Changgyeonggung Palace. It was built in harmony with the surroundings and is regarded as the most Korean-style palace.
In particular, Emperor Sunjong (r. 1907–1910), the second emperor of the Korean Empire, resided in Changdeokgung Palace after his ascension to the throne and passed away here. Heungbokheon, a subsidiary building of Daejojeon Hall, is also the tragic place where the Korea–Japan Treaty of 1910 was signed. Changdeokgung Palace is also where the last descendants of the royal family (Empress Sunjeong, the second queen of Emperor Sunjong; Crown Princess Yi Bangja; and Princess Deokhye) lived and passed away.
